Autumn Leaves Wraps Shooting
posted February 27 :::
Four months and three days after it started, shooting wrapped on Autumn Leaves on Friday, February 20. Not that we were shooting for four months straight – just a week in October and a week in February.
Autumn Leaves, a romantic comedy, tells two stories. Jason and Katie are lovers for the moment; Matt and Deb are friends for the duration. At least that’s how it starts. And since I hate writing plot summaries (it’s hard not to give away too much or be too opaque), I’ll leave it at that. Suffice it to say that their lives all have the little complications of being 25 or so and not knowing what you’re going to do with your life or who you’re going to do it with (or, for that matter, what you’re going to have for breakfast tomorrow).
Elizabeth Goffena and Jeremy Greenwell (Natalie and Joe in Beginning) play Katie and Jason, while Sarah Schulte and Matt Mulcahey make their film debuts as Deb and Matt. The crew was headed up by Mike King (director of photography) and Geoff Maxwell (sound), both of whom have done a wide variety of projects in Cincinnati and elsewhere. My thanks to everyone on the cast and crew for their hard work and professionalism. Shooting over 17 hours worth of DV in 14 days shouldn’t have been as easy or as fun as it was.
All that’s left is to trim that 17 hours down to a crisp 90 minutes (and mix the audio, and add music, etc.). I’m hoping for an autumn premier – if only to keep with the movie’s title.
