New Movie Finished

posted February 1 :::

Just completed my new movie, There Will Be Love. I’ve submitted it to the Athens (Ohio) International Film Festival and the Ohio Independent Film Festival for their consideration, and will probably submit it to one or two more festivals before I’m done. Ultimately, I expect the movie to be available online.

The finished movie, for the most part, came together as described in my previous post. It is still a black and white (well, sepia-toned) movie with no spoken dialogue, set to three familiar pieces by DeBussy and Grieg. The music was performed wonderfully on piano by Nancy Gruber.

The title changed, of course. There Will Be Love is by no means a parody of a recent, well-known film. The idea for my movie was prompted by that film, though, when, lathered up with razor blade in hand, I thought that There Will Be Blood should be a film about myself shaving. My next thought was, maybe there's something to this.

I also managed to trim There Will Be Love down to a tidy 12 minutes, in part by speeding up most of the clips in the movie, to give it a look not unlike the silent comedies of a bygone era.

Check back for updates about where and when There Will Be Love will be screening.

PS -- Congratulations to Autumn Leaves actor Steve Booth, who appeared in an award-winning Doritos commercial that aired during the Super Bowl.
