Michael Haverkamp (writer/producer/director) was born and raised in Cincinnati. The oldest of five children, he graduated from Ohio State with a B.A. in History in June of 1999. He is currently residing in Columbus, Ohio, where he works as a grant writer for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio. In his spare time he makes movies.

His second feature-length movie, the romantic comedy Autumn Leaves, was completed in September 2005 and premiered at the SMMASH Film Festival in Minnesota in October 2005, where it received a Best Supporting Actress nomination. It has since played at the Ohio Independent Film Festival at the Swansea Bay Film Festival in Wales.

Beginning, his first feature, was shot in June 2001 and completed that September. Beginning has screened at the Cincinnati Museum Center and at the Ohio State University. Between the two features he made the short movies Imitation (completed in September 2002), Sara's Surprise (May 2003), and Sounds (June 2004). Imitation was an audience choice winner at Underneath Cincinnati and has been screened at the Cincinnati Art Museum and Contemporary Arts Center.

His latest movie, the mockumentary A Brief History of the Grand Falls Communist Party, was completed in January 2007.
